Smush or Autoptimizer plugins delaying Elementor counter and progress bars

Towards the bottom of the home page on my site (which I can't link to because I haven't created 20 posts!) are a counter and several progress bars. Before installing the Smush and Autoptimizer plug-ins to speed up page loading, both these items animated as soon as they appeared on the page. Now they only animate after a significant delay.

I realise that the delay has been caused by one or both of the plugins, but which? and what do I need to change to remove the delay?

In autoptimizer > settings | you can exclude scripts from running - have a quick look at your source code to see which js file is loadeing your elements
